Celebrate Banned Books Week with a dramatic rendering of one of Illinois’ most famous banned titles! Brought to life by Paddy & Jon Lynn, with musician Patti Ecker, people from all walks of life come forward from their graves and share compelling stories of their hopes, tragedies, and joys, not to mention their advice and warnings to those still living.

This event is being produced in part by the Illinois Humanities Council’s Road Scholars Speakers Bureau, a program that provides organizations statewide with affordable, entertaining, and thought-provoking humanities events for their communities.
An Afternoon of Sacred Harp Singing
Sunday, October 5
Participate in a uniquely American singing tradition with this workshop led by seasoned singers. No note-reading or shape-note experience needed. Listeners are also welcome. Loaner songbooks will be provided. No admission charge (donations welcome).
You are welcome to bring a potluck dish and stay for the meal following the workshop.
