I'm always looking for ideas and input about what you'd like to see and do at the library, so drop me a line or stop by my desk any time.
April is National Poetry Month!
April 18 - Poem in Your Pocket Day
Carry a poem around with you and share it with the people you meet!
Lucrative bonus: In honor of 4/18, the library will take $4.18 off your library fines when you read your poem* to the staff at the circulation desk! You’ll also get a special PiYPD badge. If you don’t have fines, you can still have a badge.
*Poems should be at least 5 lines long and suitable for a general audience (PG or milder, please).
Poetry on the Patio
Help create a unique poetry experience! Throughout the month, there will be sidewalk chalk available in the YA area for you to write a few favorite lines of poetry on the library patio.

Through music and story, pianist Deborrah Wyndham shares the history of our nation's first 'pop' music: ragtime. Also the beginnings of jazz, ragtime has influenced many other notable musicians and styles of music. At first rejected by society for its unusual, syncopated rhythm and venues where it was played, ragtime later on received wide acclaim and its popularity spread fast. Now considered by many to be even a form of classical music, ragtime is truly a part of our American heritage.
Thursdays, 3:30am - 4:30pm
