7:00pm Friday, May 3
Through music and story, pianist Deborrah Wyndham shares the history of our nation's first 'pop' music: ragtime. Also the beginnings of jazz, ragtime has influenced many other notable musicians and styles of music. At first rejected by society for its unusual, syncopated rhythm and venues where it was played, ragtime later on received wide acclaim and its popularity spread fast. Now considered by many to be even a form of classical music, ragtime is truly a part of our American heritage. Green Chillis
